This was a great morning. I didn’t know what to expect as I hadn’t been to the area but I was happy what I found. I was surprised with this shot how the water almost looks like glass from the long exposure. I wish I had scenes like this more often to photograph.

    • Thanks Laura! I really wanted to stick around a little longer at this location as it was nice but had to get to other parts of the park to get more photos before the sun came up too much. I think I got up at 4 am to get out here for a sunrise. For not being a morning person I’m always up so early.

        • It’s either that or not get any of these nice photos. I convince myself that in order to get the good photos I need to get up early. When I’m on location I’m happy that I did it because the view is usually nice. And then I sleep for 10 hours the next day because I’m so tired from running on 3-5 hours of sleep. lol

          • true 🙂 I’d like to go out this evening but I’m not quite sure where to go. I have an idea for a pathway with a lamp but it needs to be darker and by that time I’m ready for bed lol.

          • I guess I do the same thing too. It took all I had to get up early to shoot the falls at sunrise the other weekend. But I didn’t go to get the sun in the shot or for the sunrise lighting. It was more because I needed less sunlight from reflections and I’d rather drive home mid-morning rather than after the sun is down.

          • I just noticed (thanks to your blog) that I can paste links to photos rather than uploading them to word press. I have a smugmug site and always have my images there so it makes a lot more sense just to paste the link.

          • I’m glad I can help you out. I just post a small sized photo so I don’t have to pay for more room as soon. I usually visit people’s blogs at work in the morning and am blocked from a lot of sights. I’m happy I’m not blocked from They also block anything that is uncatagorized so when someone posts a photo with putting it into a category, I can’t view it at work. I’m blocked from your smugmug site though so I probably wouldn’t be able to view your photos but once a week or so as I’ve got less time at home during the week. I usually just have enough time to get on and set up my post for the net day right before I start to get ready for bed.

          • oh geez…that sucks that you can’t see my smugmug photos 😦 It sure is nice just pasting a link. I don’t need to create web-sized photos this way which saves me a step in photoshop even though I have an action for it. It also saves me having to store more images on my computer. Well, I hope you still see my stuff on occasion. If more people have this problem with my images, I’ll go back to the way it was. Thanks for letting me know.

    • Thanks Rick! I had to travel through some ‘off limits’ areas due to the snow and ice and without my spikes, would have been near impossible to get back as I had to climb down quite a bit of ice. Although it was a bit cold, I did enjoy the view very much and this photo only gives a small glimpse of that view. So far I’ve never been disappointed to forcing myself to get up early in the morning to catch a nice sunrise.
