Sometimes when walking around it is nice to try and photograph something that doesn’t seem too interesting and try to get a shot to make it look interesting. For this shot I was walking down a trail and had seen this tree but didn’t really think anything of it. I’ve seen this before so didn’t even consider to take a photo of it. On my way back I stopped at it and took a look at it and thought about trying to get a photo out of it. When I uploaded it onto the computer nothing really stood out for me on it right away so I played around with the processing a bit then converted it to B&W to see what that did. Once I did that the details in the broken wood stood out and the shallow DoF helped with isolating that part of the photo. So although not an interesting subject, I was able to make an interesting photo out of it.
