Week two is now here for March and here’s my submission for the One Four Challenge. This is the version I wanted to do for the first week but with posting 5 B&W photos in a row I decided to just start out with the B&W version. I’ve been too busy to even think about what I’m going to do for the next two weeks but for this one it is basically the same as the B&W as far as the editing goes except that it’s color.
For reference I have also included the original RAW and previous weeks photos below.
This Rose stole my breath away, Justin. Just beautiful! I like the color version the best! Love, Amy

Thanks Carrie! I almost just want to stop now because I don’t know if I can do better than this but then again that’s part of the challenge. I almost didn’t enter in this photo but then thought that if I challenged myself to get 4 edits in then I could possibly create something better than the original edits in color and B&W.

There is no shame in trying and not getting a better edit. That is one of the great things about this challenge. I could see you playing with a cropped version, layering a nice texture with the image or trying a painterly effect with FotoSketcher or something else, you might be surprised what comes out. Either way, you have a beautiful photo which is a marvelous thing 🙂

Thanks Sarah! That’s something I’ve never heard for one of my photos before. I’m hoping to be able to get something that really makes this photo pop for next week.

Have you tried inverting it yet? I should imagine it could look quite surreal. Some colours are definitely delicious 🙂

Thanks for the idea Sarah. I just Googled how to do this in LR and might just give it a try. 🙂

Yay 🙂 Have fun with it! I usually use the Invert Adjustment layer tool in Photoshop CC. I enjoy messing about with the blending options on invert and B&W conversion 🙂

I really like the colours in the image and how the colours in the reflection are slightly muted. A beautiful picture.

Thanks Ben! It was fun figuring out how to take this photo and makes me want to experiment more with this idea with other flowers as well.

Hi Justin… after last week I thought we’d see a white rose… But I love your edit and its rich tones!

Thanks Chris! Not sure if I’ll be making a white rose out of this but if I ever come across a white rose then I’ll have to get a photo of it in the same way.

Its a beautiful colour and the water droplets just add that bling to really make it stand out 🙂

Thanks Stacey! I agree with you about the water droplets. I did take some photos without them just to see what it looked like and after adding the droplets it created a much better photo.
