As I was walking through Minnehaha Falls Park on this wonderful morning, the glittering of the frost off this bench caught my eye. As I seen it I thought, you don’t see a bench like this everyday, so I knew I had to take a shot. I don’t think the photo makes it look nearly as nice as it did in person though. It’s always hard to try to capture something like this that makes it look as nice as it does when you are there, but something that I always work at doing.
Fantastic! This is really amazing with the sparkles and light and textures.

It was difficult trying to get the right composition with this to try and show the reflections of the sun off the frost on the bench. Thanks MM!

Thanks Sarah! I think I may need to do some research and more practice to see if there is a way to capture these types of scenes better. I was a little disappointed that it didn’t turn out close to how it looked, but still very happy with the photo.

I think it’s a hard thing to really capture!! I don’t know enough about it to really advise you but I expect DOF is quite important. There may well be filters that a specifically designed for ice and snow photography too!

I can see where DOF may help with creating bokeh from the light reflections. I never thought about filters. I’ll have to look into that. Thanks!
